A Coat

You are not here.
You are walking in the city.
I saw you leave this morning
in your thick brown coat,
the one I gave you last winter.

And now you have walked
away from me,
wearing the coat I gave you.
That coat was some kind of proof
against impermanence -
a warm gesture from one to another.

cool! There is a feeling of mystery within the poem itself...

A very powerful piece. Impermance makes fools of us all, doesn' it? Still, when loss is transmuted into poignant flashes like this piece... I am humbled by your words. I am humbled to be human

thanks Nicholas and Bhasker,

I think I should write more in this style in the future.

Permanently your muse walks, with the coat that was meant to guard against the very threat of impermanence, yet is there hope that she may walk back, away from the confusion of the city?

I love the feel of the words and the pauses you made... gorgeous poem...
