Questions for The Poets

It's hard to write a poem in moderation.
Of moderation, with moderation.
Poets are supposed to be passionate, fighters with a cause,
Rough, rude, sharp, 'honest' -

But what if, in all honesty, I see no necessity for that?
What if my poems are...quieter.
Softer. Not angry or disillusioned and
I

don't

hate the world.
Do I then not qualify to be in the ranks
of the mouthpieces of the street? The Freedom Fighters, the
Justice League. The Sylvia Plaths, Angela Carters,
Virginia Woolfs?
Have I let down 'my side' by not hating men -
Is liking submitting? Is submission wrong?
Have I been brainwashed by the patriarchy of my
outdated, misogynist, backward, savage, people-killing,
children-raping, impotent, baseless, effectiveless
Faith?

Or have the ranks of the Freedom Fighters, the
Justice League, the angry, disillusioned haters
closed,
against those of us who know, and want to share, peace.

Hi Valerie,
Good to see you here. And glad to here you will be returning to Spore in Sept.
Your poem makes it way as a deft performance piece with its rhetorical push. It will be good to hear it and others later in the year.
Indeed the case for the poet of peace is well stacked up against the social exceptations of political stances as well as the needs and demands of role-negating feminism.

Then again, without inner demons, the hounds of hell chasing our asses what drama is there to write about? Wink

Cheers

Do we cease to hate what we cant overcome because we have?

That is the enduring question of how and why women have changed so much in this decade, and how the men have turned misogynistic in an attempt to claim their space in the world?

It is a topsy turvy world now, where women take as much as they want from the man, walk away, come back, and still expect some more.

Is it any wonder now, why are we not more like Woolf or Plath? :)

I like your poem, honest, refreshing and the pace is just amazing...I could almost feel the rant heading up to a boil...
